travel More carriers than ever are flying to the award-winning Abu Dhabi International Airport. With flights arriving from destinations all around the world frequently, planning a trip with one of Abu Dhabi's airlines is easy.

travel Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) is the second-largest airport in the United Arab Emirates and offers flights to more than 120 destinations worldwide. It is about 19 miles from the city centre, and there are a variety of ways to get to and from the airport.

How to get: by train
train The María Zambrano station connects to Madrid via the AVE high-speed train network and the journey takes less than three hours. Other AVE lines run to Cordoba, Zaragoza and Barcelona.
train In the city centre, just 2 kilometres from the port and 9 from the airport.
train You can easily leave the station by public transport: city bus lines (1, 3, 4, 10, 16, 20, 27, A, Circular 1 and Circular 2) and the N1 night bus line.

How to get: by boat
directions_boat The port is very close to the centre of the city.
directions_boat One of the main cruise ports on the Peninsula. The cruise terminal is about 3 kilometres from the port entrance, and when cruise ships are in harbour there are regular bus services.

How to get: by bus
directions_bus The Emirates Express, jointly operated by Abu Dhabi and Dubai Municipalities, connects the city with other Emirates. Regular bus services plies between the two cities taking around two hours. The bus service by Dubai RTA charges AED25 from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and AED15 on the return journey. However, Abu Dhabi transport buses charges AED15 each way.
How to get: by road
directions_car One can take any metered taxi from the streets of Dubai or any other place in U.A.E and ask to go to Abu Dhabi. The approximate cost of visiting the city from Dubai is AE250 while a taxi in Abu Dhabi until Dubai will charge around AED200.

How to get around in other means of transport
info Taxis are one of the best ways to get around Abu Dhabi. Whether you're at the airport or in the city, you're never too far away from a taxi. Just look out for their signature silver livery and yellow roof signs.
info Taxis can be flagged down on the street or you can make your taxi booking via the Abu Dhabi taxi app. The app is available on iOS and Android platforms and allows you to request a ride within 10 minutes from your current location. You can also make taxi bookings with larger vehicles for families or wheelchair-friendly vehicles for people of determination.
info On-demand ride-hailing apps like Uber and Careem are also available in the city 24/7.
How to get around in metro/tram
subway There are two Metro lines linking the centre to the university area and the western part of the city.
subway It operates between 6:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., except for Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays, when it runs until 1:30 a.m. On Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, services start at 7 a.m.

How to get around in bus
directions_bus Public buses are a cost-effective way to travel around Abu Dhabi and they operate round-the-clock.
directions_bus To pay for your bus journey in Abu Dhabi, use a Hafilat Smart Card. Hafilat – which means 'buses' in Arabic – is a pre-paid card that you can use onboard any public bus to scan in and out of your trip.
directions_bus You can purchase and activate your Hafilat Smart Card at bus stations, shopping malls and convenience stores across the city. The minimum amount that you can load onto a Hafilat Smart Card is 10 AED and each journey costs 2 AED plus 5 fils per kilometre.
